Media Studies
In both of these student magazines their mastheads are written in a bold writing in sans serif font, this would create a more of a friendly and informal approach to the reader. Also they both have coverlines with straplines to explain what is in the magazine and to grab the reader’s interest. Also both magazines use direct mode of address this is used to involve the reader in the magazine personally.
In C.U.E magazine the main sell is taken in medium shot (MS), the main shot is used to sell the magazine; the main sell would need to attract the target audience, so someone they can relate to age wise, they chose to use a young lady for this magazine this would give the audience someone to relate to. This magazine has a website address, this would give the reader other options to explore.
In SPECTRUM magazine the main sell is taken in medium close up (MCU), the main shot would attract the target audience because it would be someone they could relate to. The main sell is a teenager who is smiling this would attract the audience, and persuade them to read the magazine.
